By default, Enquete can restrict respondents from submitting the same survey more than once from the same device. This helps reduce duplicate responses and is useful when you want each respondent or device to contribute only one response to a survey.

However, there are situations where multiple responses from the same device are necessary. For example, a tablet may be placed at an event, reception desk, training location, store, clinic, or other shared location where several different people need to complete the same survey. Researchers may also use a single device to collect responses from multiple participants during interviews or field research.

In these situations, you can change the survey behaviour and allow respondents to submit the survey multiple times from the same device.

Step 1: Open the Survey

Sign in to your Enquete account.

From the Survey Dashboard, select the survey for which you want to allow multiple responses.

Click Edit in the menu at the top of the page to open the survey editor.

Step 2: Open the Survey Settings

At the top of the survey editor, click Settings.

You can find the Settings option near the top of the page, before the Distribute button.

The Survey Settings panel will open on the right-hand side of the screen.

This panel contains various options that control how your survey functions and interacts with respondents.

Step 3: Enable Multiple Responses per Device

Find the option called Allow multiple responses per device. This is under the Behaviour section

Click the toggle button next to this option to turn it on.

When this option is enabled, Enquete will allow the same device to submit the survey more than once.

This is particularly useful when a shared computer, tablet, smartphone, or other device is being used by several different respondents.

Step 4: Save the Settings

After enabling Allow multiple responses per device, click Save Settings.

Your changes are only applied after you save the settings. If you leave the settings panel without clicking Save Settings, the change will not be applied.

Once the setting has been saved, respondents can use the same device to complete and submit the survey repeatedly.

Each submission will be recorded as a separate survey response.

Difference Between Kiosk Mode and Allow Multiple Responses

Although both settings allow more than one response to be collected from the same device, they work differently:

• Allow multiple responses per device: This setting removes the normal restriction that prevents the same device from submitting the same survey more than once. After submitting a response, the survey can be opened again on that device and another response can be submitted.

• Kiosk Mode: This setting is designed for continuous survey collection on a shared device. After a respondent submits the survey, Enquete automatically prepares the survey for the next respondent, making it suitable for situations where many people complete the survey one after another.

When to Use Allow Multiple Responses per Device

Use Allow multiple responses per device when you simply want several responses to be permitted from the same computer, tablet, or smartphone without turning the device into a dedicated survey station.

This is useful when different respondents may occasionally share the same device, but the survey does not need to automatically reset after every submission.
