The Save and Continue Later feature allows respondents to pause a survey and return to it at another time without losing their progress. This is especially useful for longer surveys that may take more time to complete. Instead of abandoning the survey halfway through, respondents can save what they have already answered and continue when it is more convenient for them.
This feature can help increase survey completion rates because it reduces the pressure on respondents to finish everything in one sitting. It also improves the survey experience for people who may be interrupted, short on time, or completing the survey on a device they cannot use for long periods. By allowing respondents to return later, you make it easier for them to complete the survey fully and submit more complete responses.
When enabled, respondents will see a Save and Continue Later option while filling in the survey. After clicking it, they can enter their email address and receive a link that allows them to return later and continue from where they stopped.
Note: Save and Continue Later cannot be used together with Kiosk Mode. Disable Kiosk mode first before enabling Save and Continue Later
Go to the survey you want to update from your dashboard and open it. At the top of the survey page, click the Edit button.
This will take you into the survey editor, where you can manage the survey content, preview, and settings. At the top of the editor, you will see the main action buttons used to customize the survey.
At the top of the survey editor, click Settings.
A settings dialog box will appear. Inside this dialog box, you will see different sections that control how your survey works, including options related to publishing, scheduling, and respondent behavior.
In the settings dialog box, scroll down until you find the section called Behavior.
This section contains options that control how respondents interact with your survey while filling it in. It is where you can enable features that affect the response experience.
Under the Behavior section, find the toggle called Allow Save and Continue Later and switch it on.
Once this option is enabled, your survey will support saving partial progress. This means respondents will be able to pause the survey and continue another time instead of having to start over.
After enabling the option, click Save Settings.
Once the settings are saved successfully, the feature becomes active for that survey. You will remain in the editor, and the updated behavior will be reflected in the survey preview.
After saving the settings, look at the survey preview while still editing the survey.
You will see the Save and Continue Later button appear at the bottom right corner of the preview. This helps you confirm immediately that the feature has been enabled successfully.
When respondents open the survey, they will see the Save and Continue Later button below the survey, next to the Next button.
This allows them to continue answering normally or choose to save their progress and come back later. The option is visible during the response process, so respondents can pause at a convenient moment without losing the answers they have already entered.
When a respondent clicks Save and Continue Later, a pop-up window will appear asking them to enter their email address.
This email address is used to send them a return link to their inbox. In the pop-up, the respondent enters their email address and clicks Send link. A link is then sent to their email so they can continue the survey later from the same point where they stopped.
When the respondent is ready to continue, they can open their email inbox and click the link that was sent to them.
The link takes them back to the survey, where they can continue from where they stopped instead of starting over. This makes the process easier for respondents and helps you collect more completed survey responses.
