The progress bar helps respondents see how far they have progressed while filling in a survey. It gives a visual indication of completion, making it easier for respondents to understand how much of the survey is already done and how much is left.

This can be very useful for improving the overall survey experience. When respondents can clearly see their progress, they are often more willing to continue because the survey feels more manageable. A progress bar reduces uncertainty, especially in longer surveys, and can help respondents feel that they are moving steadily toward completion instead of answering questions without knowing how much remains.

Showing a progress bar can also help set expectations. It gives respondents a better sense of the time and effort involved, which may reduce frustration and increase completion rates. In multi-page surveys, it is especially valuable because it updates as respondents move from one page to the next, making the experience feel more guided and transparent.

For surveys that contain several sections or multiple pages, the progress bar can make the survey feel more structured and easier to follow. It reassures respondents that they are making progress and encourages them to continue until the survey is completed.

Step 1: Open the survey you want to edit

Go to the survey you want to update and open it in the editor. At the top of the survey page, click Settings.

This opens the Survey Settings panel on the right-hand side of the screen. In this panel, you will find several sections where you can control how the survey looks and behaves for respondents.

Step 2: Scroll to the Display section

In the settings panel, scroll down until you reach the Display section.

This section contains multiple toggles that control the visual appearance of the survey. Here, you can adjust display-related options that affect what respondents see while filling in the survey.

Step 3: Enable Show Progress Bar

Under the Display section, find the toggle called Show Progress Bar and switch it on.

Once this setting is enabled, the progress bar will be added to the survey. This bar will appear at the top of the survey and will visually indicate how far the respondent has progressed.

Step 4: Save your settings

After enabling the progress bar, click Save Settings at the bottom of the settings panel.

This step is important because the change will not take effect unless the settings are saved. Once saved, the survey will be updated with the new display option.

Confirm the progress bar in Live Preview

To confirm that the progress bar has been added, click Open Live Preview.

This allows you to see the survey the way respondents will see it. In the live preview, the progress bar will appear at the top of the survey page.

How the progress bar works for respondents

As respondents fill in the survey, the progress bar updates to show how much progress they have made.

The progress bar increases each time the respondent clicks the Next button to move to the next page of the survey. With every new page, the bar moves forward until the survey is finally completed. This gives respondents a clearer sense of advancement throughout the survey process.
